Do you love fish? I love fish. I’ve been taught by my parents and a lot of articles and word of mouths that it is healthy. But is it true? What if the things that you know is apparently wrong thing? I found an article about fish that was quite controversial. After reading this article, it makes me realize that the statement that fish is healthy is always true in the past when people is breeding the fish naturally or catching it fresh from the wild. In current time, people breed those fishes in a manmade pond or a “fish farm” and that cause fish is not so healthy for us.

When does this happen? I think it’s started when people want everything in the convenience of their time. They want it now, regardless the season, and they can have it. Although sometimes it’s not much, but people are still be able to have it. This is a good business as people want it, there’s somebody else that help them to fulfill it. This practice has been growing too much so that some people are willing to do anything to ensure they can ship the whole production that they have. Because of this, they are willing to give antibiotics and cheap fish food (for example, chicken feces) for breeding the fishes.

It’s not that all fish are bad and not all the fish farm are like that, I agree that this article that I read is the one that says the danger (that might be) in those farm-raised fishes. When you read the first statement, the author agrees on fish is healthier choice over bacon. Although, we need to be more cautious on the fish that are farm-raised. it might be worse than other type of food.

Well, for me, I prefer simpler rule of thumb. don’t be greedy in anything. Taking too much of anything will be bad for you. take it (especially your food) in moderation. If you take it too much, you’ll get something else, such as obesity, high cholesterol, diabetic, etc. it might not coming from the meat/fish itself, but it’s coming in the seasoning for the meat.

Enjoy while you can, but don’t overdo it. Then, you’ll enjoy it more in a long time.

Rule of thumb, the next time you go to a restaurant and order fish, ask the waiters “is this farm raised or wild caught”? Pasific or Alaskan is most likely wild caught. Atlantic salmon is almost always farm raised
