Have you watch Cars 3? I love the movie, and I like to watch it over and over again. I’m glad that my kids love it also so that we can watch it together. One scene that I love is when McQueen is trying to get his wheel dirty and he’s kind of like guiding Cruz on how to do a real race. One particular scene, McQueen says “Life is a beach. and then you drive”. I thought that it’s a pun (or playing of words), and I just got a chance to be curious and look for the meaning. The meaning that I got is that it’s an idiom that describes life is perfect. Looking at the movie, I don’t think it describes his (Mcqueen’s) life that is perfect but I think it has some pondering thoughts that come to mind. 

Life’s a beach

Life’s a beach can mean that it try to eat you. There’s a scene when Cruz try to follow McQueen the first time, She said that she didn’t go. I think that it’s the same way with us. We might thinking to move forward, but we just stuck in the same place. It let me ponder about sand as an analogy, what or who is the “sand”in your life? how they manage to stop you from progressing? I feel that many things or all things are kind of giving perspective that it’s never a good time to progress. Which is true in some sense, but it’s always there. So, we need to take the words with a grain of salt. There’s always an opportunity to move forward. Everyone is experiencing the same thing (i.e. this pandemic), but why some people thrive and some people fall? I guess it has something to do with grit. No one ever says it’s easy, it will always hard, so let’s move on. This word is stuck on my mind also. I’m still thinking and try to do things that can help me move forward.  The second thing that I got is about picking a line. But keep in mind that you don’t need to keep staying in the line. Why do I say this? There’s one scene after Cruz manages to get it and manage to follow McQueen. She still stops and says “There’s a little crab,” I think it’s similar to our life. we might follow a line that we think is the path for success.. there will be “little crab” that seems to look “cute” that will distract us from moving forward. what “crab” that comes in your life that makes you stop? Maybe it’s time for a bit of turning bit by bit to move forward. 
I guess those are 2 things that make me think more about life. another thought comes in, why do I overthink the message from a cartoon/animation movie? it was supposed to be entertaining, right? Well, that’s true. I think about this recently as I watch the movie with my kids. This movie has some impact on them. It is entertaining, but is there something I can share with my kids? There are things that easier to share from this kind of movie. I will recommend you to watch this movie again. It is entertaining and has some good moral stories. So at the end of the day, I don’t want to make you over-think some things or a lot of things, but to see from a different angle. Hope I can inspire some of you that read this and it can remind myself also that in the midst of a problem. Life is a beach. and then you drive.
