Many people these days are often stressed out in their workplace, in their family, or in their studies. How about you? Have you ever feel that everyone is trying to have a bit of yourself so that you don’t have time for yourself? Or you’re the kind that have all the time for yourself and not for others? I believe that either extreme are not good. I’m sure most of us feel that we are too busy to do anything other than our responsibility.
I was in a situation that I feel that I want to go out and roam the world. But with my current situation, I don’t think I can do it. My wife is expecting, and my company has just been bought over. It’s and exciting time in my life, but it’s all comes with those extra things that comes with it. I need to help more in doing house chores and I need to show to my new boss that I’m capable enough to still do what I need to do. I feel like I need to compete with those people who has been with the company longer than me.
One day, there’s a question that pop up on my head. I don’t know whether it’s from a radio or from an article, but it says “What’s in your life that exhilarates you? Do you do enough of it?” it’s a simple question yet, for most of us, it’s hard to answer. Looking at the season of my life, I don’t think I have enough to do the things that exhilarates me. How about you? Do you have time to do the things that you like to do? It doesn’t matter what season you are in your life, you need to find time to do more of those things. Here are some things that you need to do
1. Find out what exhilarates you
Sometimes when you are too busy with life, you have a hard time to find out what you really like. Time seems to be your enemy. But ask yourself, if you have time to do something (one or a few), what would you do? What things do you find it interesting enough to rouse your inner child? I’d love to go for basketball. It feels so much fun and I feel young when I do that. I feel that I can’t do that now, but we’ll see. I prefer to do sports because it makes me healthy and energized.
2. Find how to make it a reality
In our busy schedule, it seems to be impossible to do what you like. I’m not sure how’s your work schedule, but I saw my colleagues and me sometimes to work until late for a few times in a week. In those situation, it is preferable to just have some rest instead of doing other things. Do you see the problem? We only see the current situation and forget to ask ourselves. I’m sure you think about how is it possible when I don’t have time to do anything else. I agree to that. But let us ask different question. What can we do to make it reality? Instead of thinking at this moment or the past that we can’t change, think about the hope in the future. I’m sure if you plan it, it will be more probable rather than impossible to achieve. There are things that you can’t control, so be it. But for those you can control, take it. You’ll be surprise on where the time comes from. I’m trying to put it on my calendar, so that I can plan to do it. Fun facts, do you know when is the time for people to be very productive? It’s before the holiday. Do you now why? They plan better because they know they have that holiday scheduled and they try to make sure everything is perfect so that they can go for holiday.
3. Trim your calendar.
I know by heart that even when I try to convince myself that I’m so busy to do anything else, I can still find time to check Internet, to read one more article, to play games, or just watch YouTube. Have you felt the same way? I’m not saying doing those things are bad. But if you want to do more things in your life, you can eliminate those things that are not important. Unless, you are saying that the things that makes you happy is to play games or watch YouTube. There’s this question that help me to move bit by bit to do what I like to do: “will you do everything so that you can get what you want?” and another one is “if you get to see your future, would you regret by what you do at this moment?” we only live once, make it count.
4. Make time for it.
It seems like an dumb statement, but I saw some people just have time and have fun in talking about it. When they were asked when they want to do it, they just smile and say later. Just like what I say earlier. It seems an odd things to do, but it is one of the thing that you can do to make it happen.
5. Prioritize your life
What are the things that eaten your time a lot? Maybe you love your work, so that you not find it burdensome to work longer hours. Or you find that playing games, socializing with your friends, watching movies, or any other things are more fun than anything else. It is hard to find the balance in what you do. Although you find more times to do what you love, try to balance out. Your life is important for those around you and it’s short. It’s long enough for you to be able to do some important things in your life and short enough to be able to do everything that you want.
I might not be old enough to say this, but I’m grateful to know some good friend who shared their life and show me the importance of life and what I should do about it. Be grateful of what you have, do what you need to do, and don’t forget to have fun. By doing that, you’re enjoying the most out of your life and hopefully by the end of the tunnel of life, we can have no regret of what we have done.
Question: If you have a chance to do anything you like, what do you want to do?
Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows. – Pope Paul VI
Matthew 6: 34 – “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
